IMPORTANT NOTICE: El Paso County Residents

February 18, 2025 by Rachel Burger

Important Notice for El Paso County Residents Regarding Colorado CHP Training Requirements

Attention students residing in El Paso County:

Starting July 1, 2025, Colorado’s CHP training requirements are changing. To apply for a concealed carry permit on or after this date, you must complete training under the new 8-hour curriculum, which includes live fire training and a written exam.

We have been informed that the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is no longer accepting CHP applications until the July 1st changes take effect. Legal Heat will begin offering the new 8-hour curriculum classes starting in May 2025 to ensure students meet the updated requirements. If you have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

We appreciate your understanding as we work to help you stay compliant with Colorado’s CCW requirements.
